strategy/methodology
Hans Ullrich Obrist was not the first person to realize that today every place can be a center. Being a center is no longer a quality of urban space but can happen anywhere, even in the remotest places. Just think of PAF or Djerassi. Rem Kolhaas' thoughts on Urbanism in the 21st century go into a similar direction. Clübli is taking such accounts for serious and also believes in Matt Hailey who wrote "Camps - a guide to 21st century space". Hailey emphasis the role of the ephemeral in contemporary architecture and desrcibes this as the genuine motive in 21st century architecture and city development. According to Hailey temporary structures serve at least one of the following agendas: shelter, autonomy, or control.
Taking all this as a common place, Clübli investigates in the Basel border region and looks for places with a caravan of needian potential. After researching in the space for one to two weeks, Clübli developes an individual program to creat encounters which would not happen otherwise. During this encouters, Clübli does interviews with participants and asks them about their needs towards the border region development. The interviews are formally inspired by David Lynch's Interview Project or Hans Ulrich Obrist's interview art.
